College 16-19
T Level Technical Qualification in Media, Broadcast and Production
Further course information

The media landscape is continuously changing, and you will learn what it takes to become a practitioner in this diverse and fast paced sector. This course has a distinct focus on developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to progress into a career within content creation and production. You’ll have the opportunity to work with employers, who will develop your technical and creative skills using live industry briefs.

There is a focus on your ability to solve problems, both independently and collaboratively with your peers and clients. You will develop problem solving skills through a mixture of practically led workshops, theoretical sessions and opportunities that allow you to appreciate how different job roles support each other. Professional behaviours are encouraged in the creative workspace, particularly those relating to confidentiality, ethics and social responsibility, to prepare you for entering the workplace.

You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the production process beginning with ideation and leading into research, where you will develop an appreciation of how cultural, historical, technological and social contexts have influenced not only the development of existing media platforms but your own productions. This will lead into exploration, experimental and development processes that will allow you to visually communicate a narrative to engage specific audiences. You will do this through challenging and using conventions within the production process. With access to cutting-edge mirrorless DSLR and professional 4K cameras in our purpose-built studio and out on location shoots. You’ll gain full access and comprehensive training on the Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Audition applications in our cutting edge edit suites.

You will be expected to continuously develop your professional profile and portfolio through live client briefs. This will include pitching your concepts, engaging with audiences and showcasing your work through social media and exhibitions.
